Obituary of Barbara Jo Redman Dirkes

     Barbara Jo Redman-Evans-Dirkes, of Morning View, KY passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord surrounded by her loving children, and sister, Linda, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the glorious age of 78.

     She was born in Covington, KY on January 5, 1943; the daughter of the late John and Katie Redman. Barbara had worked for Remke’s and H&R Block, life patron of Lions International, but relished her role as a homemaker. Her home, family and faith meant everything to her. Barbara loved taking care of her children, as well as her grand babies. She often enjoyed family gatherings or even a surprise visit or call. In her spare time, Barbara loved to read, cook, work with numbers and travel. She also had a devout faith and love for the Lord. Everything Barbara did she had a passion and love for. She knew what true love was. She loved and thus was loved by so many. That love, wisdom and compassion she shared with so many will remain with all those she touched forever.

     Preceding Barbara in death was her first husband, Gene Evans; second husband, Bernie Dirkes and a sister, Karen Sabie.

     Those left surviving to carry on Barbara’s memory include her caring children, Wayne (Patty) Evans, Diane (Scott) Pendygraft, Bill (Tonya) Evans, John Evans and Brian (Dianne) Evans; siblings, Linda (Randy) Hensley, Ray (Teresa) Redman and Russell (Janny) Redman, brother-in-law, David Sabie; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends.

     A visitation celebrating Barbara’s life will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Barbara’s son, Bro. Bill Evans, will officiate the services. Barbara will then be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Taylor Mill, KY.
