Obituary of Joan Rutherford

Dora Joan Bearden Rutherford, age 85, of Walton, KY, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.  She was a retired Cafeteria Worker at Simon Kenton High School and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and the Independence Senior Center.  Joan enjoyed sewing, gardening, painting and spending time with her family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Grace Holcomb Bearden; husband, Jack Rutherford; sisters, Lee Yelton and Betty Carpenter; and brothers, Jack Bearden and Donald Bearden.  Left to carry on her legacy are her children, Cynthia Grace Rutherford and Michael Scott Rutherford (Melanie); sister, June Dinn; grandchildren, Colton Scott Rutherford (Jacey) and Alexandria Schmaltz (Jay); and great grandchildren, Judah Grace Rutherford, Remmy Schmaltz, and Birdie Schmaltz. 

Visitation for Joan will be Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a funeral service to immediately follow at 4 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  Interment will be Monday, October 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Floral Hills Cemetery.
