Obituary of Charles Philip Casson

Charles Philip “Phil” Casson, of Walton, KY went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY at the glorious age of 83.

He was born in Morning View, KY on May 22, 1938; the son of the late Rudolph and Easter Belle Casson. Phil had an immense work ethic, having worked as a machinist for RA Jones for over 40 years. He was also a lifelong member, as well as a deacon and choir member, of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Independence, KY where he met and married his loving wife, Jozetta. In his spare time, Phil enjoyed golfing, fishing and working on automobiles and vacationing in Florida and Gatlinburg. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren, who he cherished deeply.

Preceding Phil in death were his parents; several brothers and sisters and his faithful four-legged companion, his dog Heidi Tye.

Those left surviving to carry on Phil’s legacy include his wife of 63 years, Jozetta (nee Flickinger) Casson; sons, Jeff (Amy) Casson and David (Ellen) Casson; sisters, Mary Lou Grimes, Violet Lipscomb and Velma Sala; grandchildren, Erika (Chad) Hunter, Kyle Casson, Emma Casson, Sophia Casson, Samuel Casson and Brooklynn Casson; great-granddaughter, Adelynn Hunter; as well as many other close relatives and friends.

A visitation celebrating Phil’s life will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Phil will then be laid to rest with full military honors at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Taylor Mill, KY.

Expressions of sympathy in Phil’s name may be made to the Hickory Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 11969 Taylor Mill Road, Independence, KY 41051.
