Obituary of Margaret Houston Mullins
Margaret Houston Mullins formerly of Independence, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021, in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born on July 26, 1934, in Ross, OH to the late Alfred and Edith Houston. Margaret retired as an Office Administrative Assistant for Drees. She was always a hard worker and liked to stay involved with her church. Her love for music led her to play piano and sing in the church choir at First Baptist Church of Independence. She was very passionate about the Bible ministry and missions at NKY Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and playing bingo. Most of all, Margaret loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Margaret is a mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving children, Cathy Phillips Collins and James R. “Jim” (Anna) Phillips; beloved grandchildren, Bethany (Doug) Orlando, James Anthony Phillips, and Matthew Collins; brother, David Houston; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; as well as other friends and family members who will cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Phillips; siblings, Mary Hensley, Jean Melton, and Paul Houston; and her sister-in-law, Pamela Phillips Ledden.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Northern Kentucky Baptist Church, 2681 Turkeyfoot Road, Lakeside Park, KY 41017. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, at the church. Immediately following the service, Margaret will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
