Obituary of Karen Lee McKenzie

     Karen McKenzie, 80 passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She was born in Louisville, KY on September 2, 1941 to the late George Leslie and Irma Dean Knauer.  Karen worked in customer service for many years and retired from Schneider Electric.  She was a bright soul who adored her family and friends.  Karen loved her family, and they were the most important thing to her.  When she was not with her family she enjoyed being with her friends. Karen spent time with a group of ladies called the REBELS.  They would have a grand time no matter what they were doing.  Karen enjoyed life to the fullest.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Don McKenzie; brother, Bruce Knauer.  Those left to mourn and carry on her legacy are her daughter Leslie (Pryze Smith) McKenzie; two grandchildren, Jessica (J.R.) Charles and Matthew (Laura) DeVan; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Caleb and Emma Charles; three sisters, Janice (Richard Grider) Hightower; Gail Henson; Ruth Lois Knauer. Karen leaves behind many close friends, numerous nieces and nephews who called her Aunt Kay, and those she considered her “adopted” kids and grandkids who knew her as mom or gma.

     A gathering of family and friends will be held to honor Karen on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 4-6 PM. At Chamber and Grubbs, 8461 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042.  A memorial service will follow at 6 PM.

     Donation in lieu of flowers can be made in Karen’s name to the family, in care of Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY 41042.
