Obituary of Leona Fugate

Leona Hunter Fugate, 89, of Independence, KY, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Rosedale Green.  She was born the daughter of Wiley and Amanda (King) Hunter in Oneida, KY on October 19, 1932.  A retired factory worker for Diamond International, Leona enjoyed gardening, shopping, drawing, and cooking for her family.  Her famous cornbread will be missed very much!

Her parents, Wiley and Amanda Hunter; and her sisters, Mary Bowman, Barb Brill, Rhoda J. Bean Humphries; her brother James Emmanuel Hunter; and her husband JD Fugate all preceded her in death. 

She is survived by her loving children Tony Fugate, Tina Marsh (Donnie), Shirley Kaiser (Kenny); caring grandchildren Dawn King, Ben Marsh (Danielle) and Miranda Fugate; beloved great-grandchildren Mackenzie King, Emily King, Jaxon Marsh, Presley Marsh, and Raelynn Casebolt; along with many nieces, nephews, other close family, friends, and last but not least her dear grand-dog Caleb.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  Her funeral service will follow directly after at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Independence Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Rosedale Green, 4250 Glenn Ave, Covington, KY 41015.
