Obituary of Ralph Pope
Ralph Edwin Pope, of Independence, passed away in the presence of his caring family at his residence on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the glorious age of 81. Ralph was born in Foster, KY on June 9, 1940, son of the late Charles and Vonna Pope. Ralph was employed for thirty years with Roadway Express as a driver superintendent. After retirement, he foundedAlpha Fire Protection along with his son where he worked for an additional twenty years. Ralph was not one prone to idleness; rather, he enjoyed trapshooting, boating at Lake Cumberland, and spending time with his adoring family and pets. He was a longtime member of Community Family Church in Independence. Preceding Ralph in death were his parents and one son, James Dean Pope. Those left surviving to carry on Ralph’s lasting legacy include his loving and faithful wife, Barbara Pope; children, Deana (Tim) Martin, Jeff (Jennifer) Pope, Ralph Pope, Jr., and Vonna (Dennis) Sparks. Grandchildren include: Amy (Allen) Kamp, James (Betsy) Martin, Jonathan Sparks, Jared Pope, Jessica (Taylor) Davis, Sarah Sparks, and Rebecca Sparks; six great-grandchildren, as well as many other close relatives and friends who are emptier upon his passing. In keeping with Ralph’s wishes, he will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery. A graveside service will be held to honor his life on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
