Obituary of Francis "Punk" Bishop
“Punk” Francis Eugene Bishop of Independence, age 76, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at St. Elizabeth in Edgewood, KY. Punk was born in Sparta, KY on July 22, 1945, to the late James and Florene Bishop. He retired as a mechanic from Coppage Construction. Punk was always a hard-worker who did anything he could to help some one in need- family or not. He was the nicest, most giving man who had never met a stranger. He loved his family more than anything and treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Punk enjoyed time with his family whether it was playing with grandkids, fixing something, or just watching TV together. Punk was a husband, dad, brother, papaw, and great-grandpa who will truly be missed beyond measure.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Billie Bishop; children, Susan (Don) Browning, Barbara (Tony) Bishop, and Tony (Robin) Bishop; brother, David (Kim) Bishop; grandchildren, Nick (Mara) Browning, Matthew Case, Amber Eaton, Karley (Brandon) Bishop, Mandi Eaton, Sarah (Tad) Bishop, Mikie Cook, A.J. (Bri) Bishop, Willy (Emma) Bishop, Haley (Nathaniel) Bishop, Aaron Cummins, Chloe Browning, and Gabrielle Browning; 9 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; beloved dog, Axel; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other friends and family members who will cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Stanley McCoy, Betty Lou Fisk, Donald William Bishop, and Ricky Lee Bishop.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 27, 2021 beginning at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, Punk will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY.
