Capt. Schalck delivered my daughter when we were stationed at Shaw AFB. She was so wonderful and caring with me as I was a first time mother to be. She only spent nine months caring for me, but I have never forgotten her kindness and excellence in care. I am sure there are many others who have similar stories to share. I just happened to be curious where she was and looked her up to learn that she had passed. I pray God's blessings in her memories to all family and friends.

I managed the MSICU where Paulette’s husband was a patient. We shared many emotional moments and lots of hugs. We talked every time we saw each other at Good Sam after that…she was a very special person who will always have a special place in my heart…

Kim,Lesley,Bart & Aaron, How lucky was I to meet your wonderful mom over 40 years ago! We learned midwifery together and began a life long friendship. She was the best and most skilled midwife that I have ever know. She loved and spoke about her kids and grandkids and great grandkids almost every time I talked to her. She was so proud of each of you.
Her eyes sparkled when she smiled and every time she talked about any of you.
She was so adventurous, generous and so kind. My weekly talks with her have come to an end, but the many, many lovely memories of my dear friend will remain in my heart forever. I will send a photo on another comment because I don’t have it in front of me. Paulette was my midwife all of 22 years ago when I brought my first daughter into this world at the age of 18. She was such an inspiration and kind heart that when Haylee was born I decided to name her after Paulette. My daughter is Haylee Paulette, I could not have gone through that entire process without her love and understanding. She meant so much to me and I tried so hard to get in touch with her for years and thanks to Dr. Wetzel I did find her again. I wanted her to be able to come see Haylee graduate from high school in 2018 but it wasn’t feasible for her. I wish I had had the money to come visit her. I’m so sorry and so heartbroken with this news. All my hugs to the family and please feel free to find me on her Facebook page. I will send a photo as soon as I find it. There is and will ALWAYS be a special place in my heart for Paulette. She is one of the most determined and strongest people that I will ever have met. Her accomplishments and her experiences far exceed many. She is so smart and taught so much to others. She always had the frame of mind that if you tell yourself you can do it then you will succeed. Her love for mothers and babies showed in her smile with each woman that she cared for and each baby that she delivered. I felt blessed to have worked beside her for so many years and assist her in the care of her patients. I looked up to her and considered her to be a excellent role model to all. I considered her not only a coworker, but a friend and even family. She felt almost like a mom to many of us at work. My heart aches to see that she is gone, but I know she is a blessed angel looking down over all of us. My heart goes out to her sweet family, and please know that she was loved by so many.
