Obituary of Alexander James "A.J." Messmer
Alexander James “A.J.” Messmer of Walton, age 16, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday March 16, 2022. He was born in Edgewood, KY on August 7, 2005, and was currently working at Arby’s. A.J. liked basketball and was an avid fan of the Phoenix Suns. He loved spending time on the lake, going for a drive, eating good food- especially Mac ‘N Cheese, and spending time with friends. His greatest joy was his family, he loved to make them laugh with his sarcasm, jokes, and his witty sense of humor. A.J. and his siblings were always working together to pull off pranks, cover for one another, and most importantly be there for each other. A.J. always gave the best hugs, wore a big smile, and will always be remembered for his big heart. A.J. was a very special part of his large and blended family- words cannot express the pain in their hearts with his loss. He will be missed beyond measure by many.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Steve Tackett, Donald McIntyre; paternal great-grandparents, Margaret Nienabor, Marjorie and Mike Shipman; maternal great-grandparents, Lillie and Jim Sims, Jiggs Scudder, and Raymond Maxwell.
He is survived by his loving parents, Robert Louis “Louie” Messmer, Jr. and Michelle Messmer, and Brooke Williams and Charles Williams; siblings, Hannah Messmer and Tyler Hammock, Joshua David “J.D.” Ratliff, and Lilly Ratliff; grandparents, Betty and Bill Scudder, Vera Gripshover, Mick Maxwell, Barbara Tackett, Louise and Robert Messmer, Sr., and Lucille McIntyre; a large number of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many close friends who will for ever cherish A.J.’s memory.
