Obituary of Mike Zmurk

Please share a memory of Mike to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michael David Zmurk, age 50, of Ghent, KY, and formerly of Union, KY, was called up to his eternal home in heaven on July 9, 2022. Michael was born in Covington, KY, to Daniel F. Zmurk and Connie Hampton Zmurk on August 23, 1971.

After a struggle with illness, Michael knew in his heart that the best was yet to come by embracing Gods word. That whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Michael was baptized at Glencoe Baptist Church because he believed the word of Jesus, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Mike is a child of the King of Kings that received an inheritance that will never perish, spoil, or fade. No more tears, no more heartache, no more death, no more sorrow, No More Pain For The Former Things Have Passed….Heaven everlasting!! (Rev. 21:4). Michael had an undeniable love for his family and friends. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and outdoorsman. He was always considerate, respectful, and habitually placed the needs of others before his own. He lived by the Golden Rule (Mat. 7:12). Mike is now standing on God’s Golden Shore propped up by faith and Gods love. He wants those dear to him to know if they feel lost at sea, to sail towards the light. For, Mike will be there doing his part, keeping the campfire burning, patiently waiting. For, “if we walk in light, as he is in light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanseth us from all sin” (John 1:7).

Michael was never good at goodbye’s so, in the spirit of him, “see you on the other side”.

Michael is survived by his wife Christa Gilliam Zmurk; sons Kyle M. Zmurk and Mathew W. Zmurk; parents Daniel and Connie H. Zmurk; brother Kris (Jennifer) L. Zmurk; sisters Casey (Pat) Behne and Cathy (Jay) Conrad; mother and father-in-law Charles and Cynthia Holder; brother-in-laws Larry (Velda) Gilliam and Robert Holder; as well as 10 nephews, 4 nieces, 2 great nieces, and 3 great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Orville and Ruby Hampton, paternal grandparents Ambrose and Effie Zmurk, and his grandfather-in-law Charles “Hunky” Holder.

A visitation will be held between 5 PM and 8 PM on Wednesday, July 13th at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051.
