Obituary of Geraldine Gleason
Geraldine Gleason of Piner, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY. She was born in Beaverlick, KY on August 27, 1937, to the late Arnie and Eliza Lykins. Geraldine was every bit of a homemaker, she truly loved raising her family and was a great cook. Every time she baked a cake, she always made sure to give pieces out to her family. Geraldine was a farmer and enjoyed spending time in her garden where she grew her own vegetables that she would can. She mostly enjoyed springtime so she could see the baby calves be born and grow. Although she was a simple woman, Geraldine adored jewelry and shopping with her sister, daughter, and granddaughters. She loved her kids and grandbabies with every ounce of her being and she will be missed beyond measure.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James F. Gleason, and her brother, Ben Kelly.
Survivors include her loving children, Bernadine (Ben) Heeger, John (Toni) Gleason, and Matthew (Mary Jo) Gleason; sister, Mary Lou Elliott; her beloved grandchildren, Jared Heeger, Jade Heeger, Jacob Heeger, Jaclyn (Austin) Ernest, and Jayna Heeger; great-grandson, Nathan Heeger; as well as other friends and family members who will cherish her memory.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Roger Vlieg from Gaffney, SC will be officiating the service. Immediately following the service, Geraldine will be laid to rest at her family farm in Piner, KY.
