Obituary of Donald Gene Moore

Our family is heartbroken by the loss of Donald Gene Moore, Jr., age 55, of Independence, KY, who passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.  Donnie was a former General Manager for Costco, a General Manager for Long John Silver’s (over 20 years), and a General Manager at Frisch’s.  He was a graduate of Simon Kenton High School and had a love of sports, especially football.  He graduated from Thomas Moore College and Northern Kentucky University. Donnie loved Jesus, loved people, and loved sharing the gospel and the treasures of the Kingdom of God.  He was a devoted husband and father and adored his wife, Shannon M. O’Rafferty Moore and children, A.J. Phillips, Tamara Lynn Phillips, Kelsey Marie Fitzgerald, Trenton Taylor O’Rafferty, Reece Shawn Moore, Chase Don Moore, and Josiah Alexander Moore.  He is also survived by his father, Donald G. Moore, Sr., sister, Dena (Jeff) Moore Allen, brother-in-law, Jay Mefford, six grandchildren, and several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.  Donnie was preceded in death by his son, Nehemiah Moore, and his mother, Norma K. McElroy Moore.  After his death, the Moore family was saddened to learn of the sudden passing of his sister Debbie Moore Mefford on December 7, 2022. 

Donnie had an immense love of family, he would often share how important family is.  Donnie's greatest fulfillment came from his marriage and his children.  His greatest joy was his beloved bride, Shannon, and his children.  He cherished every moment he had with them.
