Obituary of Charles "Buzzy" Wilson
Charles Edward “Buzzy” Wilson, 87, died December 26 , 2022, happy and surrounded by his family. Buzzy was born on Mill Creek, in Carroll County, Kentucky on August 4, 1935 to James Ben and Louise Wilson. Buzzy drove a semi-truck for 29 years for Roadway Express out of the Cincinnati terminal. He retired in June of 1998. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Burlington, Kentucky.
After retiring Buzzy spent 17 years in Florida doing one of his favorite things, getting in his boat, and fishing the lakes in Central Florida. He was happy mowing his yard, and frying fish, surrounded by family and friends. He loved to do for others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Norma Jean Combs. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Reta, and four children, Melissa Eschan (James), Brett Wilson (Dee Dee), Amy Kennedy (Todd), and Scott Wilson (Kelli). Buzzy had 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by a brother, James Wilson of London, Kentucky, and Mary Sue Wilson of Walton, Kentucky.
Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Friday evening December 30, 2022 at the First Church of Christ in Burlington, Kentucky, with the funeral service to follow at 7 PM, Pastors L.D. Campbell and Brett C. Wilson officiating. He will be laid to rest at the English Cemetery in English, Kentucky on December 31, 2022 at 1 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to The First Church of Christ, 6080 Camp Ernst Rd, Burlington, KY 41005 or the Cross Lane Community Church, 2204 Lafayette Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47805 or to any charity of the donor’s choosing.
