Obituary of Wayne Ballinger

Wayne Ballinger, 75, of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born July 16, 1947, in Covington, KY to the late Gilbert and Hazel (nee: Baker) Ballinger. Wayne was a supervisor for the Duro Bag Company for 43yrs. Wayne was very hard working and took all work very seriously.  Once Wayne retired, he was able to spend more time with his family and his pets. Sundays were always family days, and all holidays, birthdays, etc were big celebrations. Wayne loved the holidays, and buying the scratch offs and Bath and Body lotion as gifts was his favorite thing. He loved to mow his yard and spend time outside watching birds and knowing all the ins and outs of the neighborhood.  He also loved to watch his great grandson Caleb play baseball and basketball. During the time his kids were in high school, Wayne was an active member of the Holmes High Band Parent Association and both the Holmes High and Covington City Counsel PTA’s.

He was preceded in death by a brother, sisters and stepbrothers. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 57yrs, Esther (nee: Stevens) Ballinger and their children, Lisa Ballinger Johnson, Kelly Wayne (Jenny) Ballinger and special niece, Joyce- Martin (Bill) Wells. He also leaves behind his brother, Ronald Ballinger and grandchildren, Andrew Wayne (Brittney) Ballinger, Aric Johnson, Tyler Ballinger, Alisha Johnson, Carly Rae (Logan) Hickey, Cassidy Ballinger Boone and great grandsons, Caleb Wayne Ballinger and Ezra Hickey.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence, KY with funeral services to follow at 12:30 PM. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill, KY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the LVAD Heart Unit of the Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, OH or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
