Obituary of Richard Kenneth King, Sr.

Richard Kenneth King, Sr., age 79, of Ft. Thomas, KY (formerly of Independence, KY), passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Bay Pines, VA Hospital in Bay Pines, FL.  He was a retired lithographer, a member of the Elks Club, and a U.S. Marine Veteran.  Richard had a fun-loving personality and was very handy.  Although he never had formal training, he could build or fix anything (including construction, electrical, plumbing or masonry work).  He was also fascinated by computers and taught himself how to tear them apart and rebuild them.  For enjoyment, he loved to watch movies, listen to music, and travel, but he most enjoyed being around those he loved, especially his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry King and Mary Delay King Hubbard; brothers, Harry King, Tommy King, Gary King, and Curtis Hubbard; and sister, Shirley Will.  Survivors include his wife (of 58 years), Dorothy Bryant King; son, Richard K. King, Jr. (Carol Ann Honchell); daughter, Hollie Hurst (Jeff); brothers, Harry King and Mike King; sister, Karen Muenchen, Ineva Ranz, and Sherry Weinel-Case; and grandchildren, Richard K. “Trey” King, III, Austin, Monroe King, Savannah Nicole King, William Hurst, and Hannah Hurst.  The memorial service for Richard will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 11 a.m., at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  A reception will immediately follow at the funeral home.  Memorials in Richard’s memory may be made to Bay Pines Hospice VAHCS, 10000 Bay Pines Boulevard, St Petersburg, FL 33744,  Attention: Voluntary Services.  For directions, to view his Life Tribute Video or to leave the family a message of condolence, please go to www.chambersandgrubbs.com.
