Obituary of Marlene Thelma Smith

Marlene (Marschman) Smith of Taylor Mill, Kentucky died on March 22, 2023 at the age of 87. She died peacefully in her home amongst family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Smith, her son Dana Smith, her grandson, Zachary Smith, and her brother, Kenneth Marschman. She is survived by her sons, Duane Smith, Daryl (Debbie) Smith, Robin (Sharon) Smith, and Scottford (Georgia) Smith, her grandchildren, Ashley (Smith) Fitzgerald, Mitchell Smith and Julia Smith, her great-grandson, Julius Smith and her brother Joey Marschman.

Marlene and Cecil bought their house on Ridgeway Drive in Taylor Mill, Kentucky in 1956. There, Marlene enjoyed many happy memories as she raised a family and developed a community of lifelong friendships. As a longtime member of Oakridge Baptist Church, she was active in the church choir, attended bible study and volunteered with Operation Christmas Child. Marlene was a much loved sister in faith, and her Oakridge family was a source of genuine happiness throughout her life. As a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Marlene will be missed by many.

The funeral will be held on March 28, 2023 at Oakridge Baptist Church. The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with the service immediately following from 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. The burial will follow at John’s Hill Cemetery in Wilder, Kentucky.
