Obituary of Connie Lewis
Constance Ann [Menefee] Lewis, age 70, of Independence, KY went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of March 22, 2023.
Connie loved to garden, fish, and do word searches. For 18 years, she was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed the songs of Elvis as well as musicals. Often in her kitchen, she savored cooking southern foods and baking. She always had children around, and loved it that way. When she had free time to herself, she played bingo and treasured going yardsaling with her sister. Connie was one in a million, humble and grateful, on both the sunniest and the darkest of days. She was someone and something to be in awe of. Connie lived simply her whole life, never asking for anything, but freely giving whatever she had. She knew all along that things never mattered—it was people who did. She walked through life with kindness, emitting love for all creatures big and small, never bothering a single one of them. She was quietly brave and unknowingly heroic. One of 11 children, Connie thought the world of her family and made the effort to stay connected; being the bridge to those she loved throughout the years. The good news now is that she is surely fishing for the lunker alongside those who went before her and Jesus; pain and burden free!
Those left on Earth to carry on Connie’s love are her children Venus Ammons, Joshua Lewis, and Tiffany Mullis; siblings Cynthia Lovelace, Charles “Stevie” Menefee, Cora Menefee, Nancy Gross, Joseph Menefee, Randy Menefee, and Marshall Menefee; grandchildren Stephen Lyons, Joshua “Joshy” Lewis II, Anna Mullis, Maria Mullis and Jack Mullis; great-grandchildren Roxas Lyons and Ansem Lyons; as well as many other loved ones—beautifully too many to mention. Connie’s net was wide and her heart ran endless.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Menefee and Norma Menefee Ginn; sister Cathy Menefee; brothers Sammy Menefee and James “Jimmy” Menefee; and grandson Matthew Lyons.
To honor Connie’s life and memory, a future gathering and celebration of her life will be held on Sunday May 7, 2023 at noon at Alexandria Community Park: 3965 Alexandria, KY 41001.
Connie’s family deeply regards the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, church, colleagues, community as well as Connie’s caregivers and care team members with which they have been graced.
“And the meek shall inherit the earth.”
