I don’t know where to begin. I knew Shelbie so many, many years ago; spent a lot of time with her and Rod. Sonjua was just a young little girl. I held Amber and Lacey when they were newborns and watched them grow into young little girls. Then in 1987 I moved away and gradually my connection with the family faded away. We did so much together back then, like our annual pilgrimage to Mt. Sterling for court days, our many camping and canoeing trips, our vacation to Myrtle Beach… riding all the way in the back of Rod’s truck, target practicing at the NKSSA range in Crittenden, even skinning deer. I have often reflected back on those days. Good times, good friends.
And those words describing Shelbie as being no nonsense, industrious and an outdoorswoman is who she was back then and apparently who she was to the end. I never met a truer human being.
My condolences to Rod, Sonjua, Amber, and their families
