Obituary of Donna J. Amburgey

Donna J. Amburgey of Independence, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 13, 2023, at St. Elizabeth in Edgewood, KY. She was born in Cincinnati, OH on October 13, 1950. Donna retired as a transporter for Deaconess Hospital. She loved to spend her time Antiquing with her husband, stopping by yard sales, and browsing through flea markets.  Her greatest joy of all was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Donna loved her family fiercely, she was always kind, and her strength led her to be the rock of her family. She was a wife, mom, mamaw, and sister who will be deeply missed.

She is preceeded in death by her parents, Callie and Morris Ward; father, Larry Wilson; daughter, Malissa Amburgey; sister, Barbara Fitzpatrick; niece, Jessica Wilson; and her brother and sister-in-laws, Bobby Amburgey, Phyllis Thacker, and Josephine Riley.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Billy Ray Amburgey; children, Shannon Amburgey and Billy Ray Amburgey, Jr.; beloved grandchildren, Brianna, Reagan, Steven, Mackenzie, Carson, Emma, and Caylie; siblings, Arnold (Phyllis) Wilson and Eugene (Michelle) Wilson; as well as several other friends and relatives who will cherish Donna’s memory. 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 10:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, Donna will be laid to rest next to her daughter at Independence Cemetery.
