Obituary of Kathryn Humphries
Anna Kathryn (Kat) Humphries, 89, of Lexington, KY, died Friday, April 14, 2023, at Central Baptist Hospital with her loved ones by her side. Kathryn was born in Morning View, KY and called many places around KY home while growing up. Kathryn graduated from Livingston High School in Livingston, KY. She and Jim settled in Fort Thomas, KY to raise a family of her own. After her children were grown, Kathryn and Jim relocated to San Angelo, TX for 10 years, until making their move back to Lexington, KY to be close to their family again.
Kathryn was a stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up and was very active at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Thomas as well as the schools that her children attended. She took great joy in all children and felt blessed when she and Jim moved to Lexington so that she could be close to her grandchildren and be a part of their lives as they grew up. Kathryn loved being a part of a large family and enjoyed hosting gatherings for any occasion.
Kathryn is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, James, son Roger (Kristina), daughter Jenny, granddaughters Maddie and Skylar, and grandson Jack.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents Loyd and Margie Ball, sisters Irene (Charles) Longworth, Ginny (Rudy) Elmore, Ruby Ball, Barbara (James) McCracken, Dorothy (Raymond) Bond, and brother Major (Barbara) Ball. Additional survivors include sisters Linda (Lanny) Setters, Betty (Gene) Haskamp, Rosie (Dennis) Chinn and Patty (John) Rich; brothers Jim (Ellen) Ball and Paul (Kathy) Ball as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank her incredible caregivers, Liza, Leslie and Caroline for the loving care they provided Kathryn over the last few years.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Thomas, 220 S Ft Thomas Avenue, Fort Thomas, KY 41075. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM, at the church. Due to preschool pick up, please park in the St Andrews Episcopal Church parking lot across the street. Immediately following the service, Kathryn will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY. A luncheon will follow the burial at Latonia Christian Church, 3900 Decoursey Avenue, Covington, KY. Memorial donations can be made in Kathryn's name to the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Thomas.
