Obituary of James "Jim" D. Hensley
In Loving Memory of James Delano Hensley (1955-2023) known affectionately as “Jim” or “Jimmy” to family and friends, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 7th, 2023 at the age of 68. He was born in Sendai, Japan on March 30th, 1955, to his late parents, Delno and Keiko (Tsuruya) Hensley.
James led a fulfilling life, marked by significant accomplishments and treasured relationships. After relocating his family from Pathfork, KY to Burlington, KY, he dedicated three decades of service to General Electric, until his retirement in 2015. In addition to his career, James proudly served his country in the United States Navy onboard the USS Badger (DE-1071).
Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Brittany Fields (Benny) and Ryan Hensley (Cheryl); his adored grandchildren, Bennitt and Katherine; his brother, Don Hensley (Debbie); his sisters, Ruth Goss (Mike) and Frances Bush (Gary); his former wife, Sheila Hensley; as well as numerous nephews and nieces; and his best friend, Susan Gossman.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother Mikie.
James had an unwavering work ethic and was dedicated to his children. Remarkably kind and true to his word, he always spoke the truth. He would do anything for those he loved without hesitation. In his leisure time, James enjoyed various hobbies including hunting, fishing, shooting guns, archery, reading historical fiction, playing video games and riding motorcycles. James had an incredible sense of humor and brought laughter to all those who were fortunate enough to know him. His playful spirit and light-hearted teasing will forever be remembered.
A visitation will be held from 10 AM up until the time of the funeral at 12 PM on Friday, June 16th, at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. James will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery where military rites will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home.
