Obituary of Bettie Raye Ishmael

Bettie Raye Ishmael, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Rosedale Green. She was born in Latonia, KY on July 24, 1939, to the late Raymond and Bertha Farris. Bettie retired as a cashier for a parking garage. In her spare time, she loved going out to eat with friends and family, listening to good music, and going shopping. Bettie was always easygoing, caring, and very family oriented. She absolutely adored her grandchildren. She was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed beyond measure.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Ishmael; children, Tami West, Kimberly Ishmael, and Samuel S. Ishmael; and her sisters, Charlotta Naime, Linda Wilson, and Laura McKeown.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Terri (Walter) Haley, Toni (Charlie) Abdon, and Traci (Jeff) Hale; son-in-law, Eric West; 11 beloved grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; as well as many other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, Bettie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Independence Cemetery.
