Obituary of Lori Ann Johnson

Lori Ann Johnson, 50, of Independence, KY, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. The daughter of Joyce {Schwab} Johnson and Mike Johnson, Lori was born in Covington on January 24, 1973. She was employed with the IRS for over 26 years.

In her spare time, Lori enjoyed swimming in her pool, listening to country music, going to concerts, and decorating for the holidays. Lori loved all animals, she had a cat named Coco that she cherished, and she enjoyed pet-sitting for her neighbors. She loved to travel anytime she had the opportunity to. She visited the Alamo in Texas and going to Disney World in Florida as she was a huge Disney fan.

Those left to carry on Lori’s legacy are her parents, Joyce Johnson and Mike Johnson; sister Shelly (Brent) Ponder; niece Samantha (Joe) Ponder Klein; nephew Mitchell Ponder; aunts Connie Faulkner and Verna Waters; uncle Don Menke; friend Sally Goerler; and many cousins, relatives, and friends.

Lori was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Louis Schwab and Virginia (Charles) Hempfling; paternal grandparents Wesley and Velletta Johnson; aunt Virginia (Howard) Murray; and uncle Ron Waters.

A visitation will be held between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM with a funeral service to immediately follow at 1:30 PM on Friday, June 30^th at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. Lori will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill.
