Brian Simpson

Obituary of Brian Scott Simpson

Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Brian Scott Simpson, 48, left us too soon on July 4, 2023. Born in Covington, KY on January 5, 1975, he was the son of Kathy [Simpson] Herdman.

Brian attended Boone County High School. If something was broke, Brian could fix it. He truly was a jack-of-all-trades and worked in a myriad of jobs in maintenance, general construction, and remodeling. Brian was a people person and a social butterfly almost all of the time. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and adored music. The only time he wasn’t cracking jokes or pulling pranks was when he was hunting or fishing, where he enjoyed peace and quiet (and politely or maybe not so politely asked that you do the same if you were with him). Brian loved desserts of all kinds, but what truly brought sweetness and joy to his life was his family, especially his kids and grandkids. This man of adventurous and generous spirit passed away on his favorite holiday, trying to bring something fun and enjoyable to all.

Those left behind to carry on Brian’s legacy are the love of his life, Teela Gabbard; his children Kaylynn Simpson (Brandon Webster), Brianna Simpson (Joshua Jones); Brian Simpson, II (Brianna Bittorf); Shilynn Walls; and Jaxson Walls; his mother Kathy Herdman; sister Kelli Herdman (Justin Rowe); three brothers, stepbrother JR Herdman; stepsister Maggie Herdman; 6 dear grandkids (who he cherished deeply) as well as a host of other close relatives and good friends.  Preceding Brian in death are his grandparents Raymond and Dorothy Simpson; and his half-sister, Heather Herdman.

You are invited to a gathering to celebrate Brian’s life at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY, 41051 on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. The family will receive friends to share memories and stories from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral ceremony will be held the following day, Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Directly following the funeral, Brian will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger, KY. Brian loved to ride his motorcycle. If you will be attending the funeral service and will be driving in procession to the cemetery and are able, please ride your bike.  It is requested that all who attend services dress casual; wearing Cowboys apparel or your favorite black t-shirt, nice jeans, and sneakers.

While it is always hard to lose those we love, the loss of Brian comes as very sudden and unexpected. Instead of (or in addition to) flowers or other expressions of sympathy, please consider making a memorial directly to the family via this link. You may also make a contribution to the family by phoning the funeral home at 859-344-5000 or 859-525-9009.
