Obituary of JoAnn Barrett
JoAnn Barrett, 65, departed peacefully and valiantly surrounded by family and friends at Hospice Care Of St. Elizabeth, Edgewood, KY on July 9, 2023. The daughter of the late George and Mary [Jones] Peterson, she was born in Cincinnati, OH on July 13, 1957.
JoAnn attended and graduated from Western Hills High School. She worked for many years and retired from C&J Trucking as a dispatcher.
JoAnn was personable, compassionate, patient and forgiving. With an open and loving heart, she prioritized the needs of others and knew how to love unconditionally with empathy and without judgement. She was independent, dependable, the ultimate hostess, and prided herself on her expansive knowledge of gardening and her green thumb.
JoAnn adored grabbing a drink and listening to live music with her close friends and family as much as she enjoyed the peaceful and beautiful solitude of being outdoors and listening to the birds sing while she worked in her garden (or as she called it, “playing in the dirt”). This gorgeous soul will be eternally missed by all who knew her.
Those left to carry on JoAnn’s love and light are her children Cyndi Steinbis and Ryan Barrett; her sister Patty Fowler and brother Roger Peterson; her grandson Lincoln Barrett as well as so many dear friends and close relatives. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Mary & George Peterson and her brother Kenneth Peterson.
