Obituary of Ginny Thornton Howard

Virginia “Ginny” Eleanor Thornton Howard, age 89, of Independence, KY, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, KY.  She was a retired Buyer for St. Elizabeth Hospital and had also previously worked with Cincinnati Time Recorder.  She was a member of both the Independence and Walton Senior Centers and enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, with her friends on Tuesdays.  Ginny was also an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron Thornton and Grace Schumacher Thornton; siblings, Harry Thornton, Thelma Bennett, Audrey Gordon, Norma Costa, Myron Thornton, Jr., Rodford Thornton, Franklin Thornton, and Clifford Thornton; and former husband, Jack Howard.  Survivors include her children, Jeffrey Howard (Anita), Amy Lohmoeller (Bernie), Valerie Speth (Chris); grandchildren, Jennifer Howard, Anna Jones (Andy), David Speth (Adrian), Lucas Lohmoeller, Logan Lohmoeller, Molly Speth, and Meghan Speth; and great grandchildren, Keenelyn Jones and Jack Jones.  Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 7 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  Memorials may be to the St. Elizabeth Cancer Care Center, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017 or the March of Dimes, Donate Now | March of Dimes.  For directions to view the Life Tribute Video or to leave a message of condolence, please go to www.chambersandgrubbs.com.
