Obituary of Frances Martin
Frances Martin, 93, of Covington, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Bernard and Leona {Martin} Cornelius, Frances was born in Morning View, KY on August 17, 1929.
Frances was a member of Garrard Street Church of Christ where she ran the food pantry. She was a grandma through and through, she loved every child she encountered and was known for how nurturing and caregiving she was. Frances was generous to her family and was a great listener. In her spare time, she enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, playing cards and board games, and participating in family outdoor games. Frances was always dressed to the nines and meticulously coordinated her attire every day.
Those left to carry on Frances’ legacy are her two children Charles Chapman Jr. and Linnett Baker; sister Deborah (Jim) Crouch; sister-in-law Christine Cornelius; her number one grandson, Greg (Melissa) Chapman; grandchildren Christi (Steve) Goins, Jack Crutcher, Chuck (Lisa) Chapman, Kelley (Evan) Holsopple, Bryan (Kate) Martin, Erik (Brandon Barnett) Martin, Andrew Martin, and Allison (Emilio) Lisi; and great-grandchildren Josh Chapman, Taylor Goins, Brianna Chapman, Emily, Katelynn and Maddie Holsopple, Nick and Kaylee Chapman, Maddie “#2” Riley, and TJ Rowley; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Robert “Bob” Martin; brothers Frank Cornelius and George Cornelius; and sisters Helen Davis, Audrey Stamper, and Ruth McLafferty.
A visitation will be held between 8 AM and 10 AM on Saturday, July 22nd with a funeral to immediately follow at 10 AM at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. Frances will be laid to rest next to her husband at Independence Cemetery.
