Obituary of Theodore Steward

Theodore Steward, age 82, of Walton, KY, passed peacefully at his residence enveloped in the love of family on July 26, 2023. Better known to all who loved him as Ted, he was born on March 11, 1941 in Hooker Hollow, Manchester, KY; the son of Tom and Delphya [Goins] Steward.

Ted moved to Walton, KY with family as a teenager. It was there at the school bus stop that he met Shirley Baynum.  They were married and began their family together.

Ted made his living running his own businesses— first, Ted’s Tire Service for many years and then Ted’s Water Service, both in the Northern Kentucky area.  He was a member of the Lions Club and when he wasn’t busy working, he enjoyed fishing and finding treasures at yard sales. Ted especially loved the annual 127 Yard Sale. He was an extremely social person, always visiting and cutting up with any person he had the pleasure to meet.  He loved Shirley’s country cooking.  This wonderful husband, father and papa has rightfully earned his rest after many years of hard work and fierce loving kindness and will be missed greatly.

Surviving to carry on Ted’s legacy are his treasured wife of over 50 years, Shirley Steward; children Barbara Steward, Paul Steward and Ted Steward (Christy); sister Marietta Beene; grandchildren Rodger, Shannon, Amy, Charlie, Amber, Paul Wayne, Justin, Kristy Lynn, Ted William, Matt, and Christopher; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild as well as many other cherished relatives and friends.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Gladys Baker, Paul Steward, Grover Steward, Betty Beene and Sam Steward as well as beloved daughter Virginia Steward Biddle.

A visitation for Ted will be held Tuesday, August, 1, 2023 at Chambers & Grubbs, 45 Main St., Walton, KY, 41094.  The family will receive guests from 10:00 AM until shortly before the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM (also at the funeral home). Ted will then be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill, KY. Please consider giving to the Lions Club in Ted’s memory; 322 Madison Pike
