Obituary of Carolyn Ann Rennekamp
Carolyn Ann Rennekamp, 77, of Walton, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. The daughter of the late Paul and Eileen {Mulcahey} Fortner, Carolyn was born in San Diego, California on September 3, 1945. A registered nurse, Carolyn retired after 31 years of service with St. Elizabeth Hospital, more than 20 of those years working in the hospice unit.
Carolyn was most recently a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, but was a prior member of both St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Independence, KY and St. Anthony Catholic Church in Taylor Mill, KY. In her spare time, Carolyn enjoyed tending to her flower garden and would often help in the garden at St. Timothy’s. Carolyn was a peacemaker by nature and had a generous heart. She cherished quality family time and family gatherings. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Licking Valley Quilter Group. Carolyn was known to donate her quilts to St. Timothy’s Outreach Program which provides quilts for single mothers.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved children, Jim (Karen) Rennekamp, Julie Milligan, and Joe (Lori) Rennekamp; daughter-in-law Amy Rennekamp; siblings Paul (Christy) Fortner, Mary (Amir) Rafizadeh, John (Debbie) Fortner, Jeff (Bev) Fortner, Theresa (Bashar) Jaafari, and Jim (Julie) Fortner; grandchildren Tara Rennekamp, Danielle Rennekamp, Tyler Rennekamp, Alysha Milligan, Alex Milligan, Drew Milligan, Joshua Rennekamp, Jessica Rennekamp, Kaylee Rennekamp, and Luke Rennekamp; great-grandchildren Teigan Pitcher, Talon Pitcher, and Malia Milligan.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Joseph Rennekamp; son Jeff Rennekamp; and brothers Steve and Mike Fortner.
A visitation will be held between 11:30am and 1:30pm followed by a memorial mass at 1:30pm on Friday, September 1st at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 10272 US-42, Union, KY 41091.
