Obituary of John F. "Jack" O'Sullivan
John F. “Jack” O’Sullivan, Jr., passed away suddenly on Friday, September 8, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Schaumburg, IL, on April 29, 1965, to the late John and Dorothy Chesna O’Sullivan.
Jack was a “one-of-a-kind” person you never forgot. He adored his daughter, Kelsey, who was his princess. He had many friends who were like family to him. Since Kelsey was an only child, many kids spent time with Jack enjoying his cooking, Burger King “playdates” and basketball practices. Many second daughters still come through the front door dropping in unexpectedly, but he would always welcome them with open arms.
Jack was a life-long sports fanatic who never gave up on his Chicago teams. His love of sports and especially his beloved Chicago sports teams inspired him to remodel the basement of his home to resemble Wrigley Field. His “man-cave”, filled with T.V.’s and sports memorabilia, was used to host many Football Sundays and March Madness gatherings. After many years of agonizing, he was thrilled to finally get to celebrate the Cubs World Series victory.
Jack was employed by Delta Airlines for almost 38 years beginning in Chicago, then Washington D.C., and landing in Cincinnati, OH. He loved to travel and take cruises.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife (of 29 years), Karen Rafferty O’Sullivan, his daughter, Kelsey O’Sullivan of Kansas City, KS, mother-in-law, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Peggy O’Sullivan.
A gathering of friends will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service to be held beginning at 3 p.m., at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Hwy., Florence, KY 41042. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .
