Obituary of Ada Marie Collett Bush

Ada Marie Collett Bush of Independence, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Rosedale Green. She was born in Hazard, KY on November 12, 1929, to the late Burchell and Pauline {Gilbert} Collett. Ada retired from UC Medical Center as a Registered Nurse and was a faithful member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She loved to be involved with her church. She traveled to Brazil and Venezuela for medical mission trips and was dedicated to teaching adult Sunday school which she loved to do. Ada would also purchase bibles and gift them to her friends and family members. She even sent Bibles to her grandson while he was away in the Army to share amongst the others. Ada always thought the best of everyone and loved to help others, especially when it came to spreading the word of God. She had a wonderful sense of humor, good taste in fashion, and was a strong woman which are all traits she instilled in her daughters. Ada was a mom and mommaw who will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arvil Bush, Sr.; son, Arvil “Buzzy” Bush, Jr.; and her grandson, Tyler True.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Pam (Robert) DeFusco, Tawnia (Alan) True, Penny (Doug) Teague, and Lisa Bush; sister, Jowinna Roberts; beloved grandchildren, Damon (Amy) DeFusco, Cody (Stephanie Stamm) True, Sarah (Mitchell) Strohmaier, Lyndi Tatter, and Dave “Davey” (Lauren) Tatter; step-grandchildren, Katherine and Breanna Teague; great-grandchildren, Evangeline Tatter, Tyler DeFusco, Kristoffer Strohmaier, Lukas Strohmaier, Conner Strohmaier, Serena Barhorst, Lily Strohmaier, and one more on the way!; step-great-grandchildren, Brayden and Ella Jesse; as well as other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM, at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, Ada will be laid to rest next to her husband at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY.
