Obituary of Dennis Racine Yount

Dennis Racine Yount, 96, of Independence, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Cincinnati VA Community Living Center in Cincinnati, OH surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Yount proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Dennis worked as a Zookeeper for the Cincinnati Zoo for 34 years upon retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching golf, gardening and farming. Dennis was born to the late Mack and Lille (nee: Hicks) Yount on August 1, 1927. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Fern Blanton Yount, daughter, Sherri Long, son, Robert Yount, brothers, Billy Lee Yount, Hommer Yount, Jr., Orville Yount and sister, Blanch Eaton. Dennis is survived by his loving children, Keith Yount, Michael Yount, Dennis (Mary) Yount, Jr., Jeff (Heather) Yount and daughter, Shan Oliver. He also leaves behind his seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 9:00AM to 10:30AM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence, KY. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Independence Cemetery, Independence, KY with Military Honors to follow.
