Obituary of Joyce Ann D'Amico
Joyce Ann D’Amico, 83, of Ryland Heights passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY on Saturday, October 21st. She was born Joyce Ann Hille on January 16th, 1940 in Covington, KY to William and Edith Hille. Joyce Hille married William D’Amico on December 29th, 1956. They were married for 59 years at the time of William’s passing in January of 2016.
As a young, newly married woman, Joyce worked as a waitress at the Frisch’s in Covington. Eventually, Joyce went on to get her real estate license and worked as a broker. Throughout the next 20 years, she worked for various agencies such as Wilson Realtors, Century 21, Remax, and Huff Realty. Joyce left real estate in 1983 to open D’Amico Cleaners alongside her husband. They would go on to serve the Taylor Mill community for 10 years before William retired.
For 4 years in the later part of the 80’s, Joyce ran the life squad for the Ryland Heights Volunteer Fire Department. In her free time, Joyce loved to bowl and even bowled on a league for several years at Lookout Bowl. She also enjoyed cooking and canning her own food. Joyce was known for her delicious cheesecakes and jams. Above all else, Joyce liked to talk! During her time spent at Charter Senior Living in Edgewood, she was the resident social butterfly. Joyce was always giving out hugs and kisses to her fellow residents and staff.
Along with Joyce’s husband, William, Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, William and Edith Hille; brothers: Carl, Albert, Bobby, Paul, and Ed; her sister Debbie Kennedy; and stepdaughter Peggy (Warren) Lipps.
Survivors include her son, Rodney (Mary) D’Amico; daughter, Geoia (Robert) Gauck; siblings, Gloria Jean (Rocky) Karlage and Steven (Jennifer) Hille. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26th, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 NOON at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 PM at Independence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Joyce's name to the Alzheimers Association, act.alz.org or to the American Stroke Association, www.stroke.org.
