Obituary of Janlyn Loomer
Janlyn Loomer of Florence, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Emerald Trace in Elsmere, KY. She was born in Covington, KY on January 23, 1948, to the late Alice and Robert Craig “Bob” Martin. Janlyn worked as a hairdresser and a school bus driver for several years, and later retired from Citi Bank as a communication specialist. She was proud to be a part of the 1966 Boone County High School graduating class and enjoyed attending the class reunions. Janlyn was an animal lover but had a special appreciation for birds. She liked to bird watch and even had her own parrot named Chester! She was a die-hard Cincinnati Reds fan and loved rooting for the UK basketball team too. Janlyn spent her free time crocheting, doing cross stitch, playing bridge with friends, and researching her family’s genealogy. Most of all, Janlyn loved spending time with her family. She was kind, caring, and hospitable- her warming presence and soft touch will be missed by those who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Weston Loomer; son, Richard Baughn; daughter, Shelley Mayo; and her brother, Robert Craig “Chip” Martin.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Lori Byrd; beloved grandchildren, Lindsay Byrd, Drew Byrd, Blake Byrd, and Natalie Mayo; 4 great-grandchildren; as well as other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home 8461 Dixie Highway Florence, KY 41042. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Immediately following the services, Janlyn will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY.
