Obituary of Annalie Cain

Please share a memory of Annalie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Annaliese Ranisch Cain,102, passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY on January 14, 2024. Born on March 14, 1921 in Darmstadt, Germany, she was the daughter of Max Ranisch and Anna Seifert.

Annalie met the love of her life, Jesse Cain, during World War II while Jesse was serving in the United States Army. They were married and Annalie emigrated to the U.S.  Annalie enjoyed sewing, gardening, and creating art. Art was not just a hobby for her, though. Prior to meeting Jesse, she studied art and design, graduating with a degree. Much was lost during the war; including any record of Annalie’s professional training.  Undaunted, however, she was able to secure a position at St. Margaret’s Hall in Cincinnati, OH as an occupational therapist.  She would teach and work with the residents there to not only provide them a creative outlet but assist in nurturing a greater community as they learned and crafted works in paint, ceramic, and even fibers and mixed media.  Some of these pieces were even utilized in benefits and auctions to raise funds for St. Margaret’s.  Annalie retired in the late 1970s, giving greater focus to the family she treasured. A wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma as well as dear sister and friend, this tremendously talented and strong lady will be missed by so many.

Those left to carry on Annalie’s love and light are her daughters Gale Webster, Debbie Hoffman (James), and Marie Gilbert (Ron); sister Ria Keller; brother Gottfried Ranisch; grandchildren Brandon Webster, Kara Patterson, Lauren Lux, and Joel Cason; great-grandchildren Chase Lux, Ashton Lux, Lily Webster, Abigale Webster, and Stella Webster. Annalie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jesse Cain, her brothers Herman Ranisch and Carl Ranisch, as well as her parents.

A visitation will be held to honor Annalie at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, Ky 41051 on January 17, 2024.  The family will receive guests from 10:00 AM until shortly before the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home.  Annalie will be laid to rest the following day on January 18, 2024 at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Rd, Covington, KY 41015 at 2:00 PM.
