Obituary of Celeste Hamilton

Celeste Hamilton, of Elsmere, KY, left her earthly home at the age of 96, on Saturday, January 20^th, 2024. She was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on August 28^th, 1927.

Celeste was known to be a simple woman and she enjoyed the small things in life. She loved her family and cherished the time she spent with her grandkids.  Celeste was hardworking and was dedicated to her job as a housekeeper for the Cincinnati Woman’s Club. She retired in her 80’s, although her heart wanted to continue working.

Celeste is preceded in death by her husband, Doug Hamilton, and her brother, Albert “Mickey” Soares.

Survivors include her children, Sharon (Bill) Oppihle, Cheryl (John) Schleiff, Patty (Garry) Miller, and Doug Hamilton Jr.; grandchildren, Eddie Paton, Jennifer Paton, Patricia Paton, William Oppihle, Celeste Neu, Michelle Haas, and David Madar; great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Sarah, Audrey, Isabelle, Jansen, Alicia, Leon, Danielle, Eddie, Melanie, John, and Daniel; as well as several great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25th from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will begin immediately after the visitation. Following the service, Celeste will be interred at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Covington, KY 41015.
