Obituary of James Llewellyn
James “Jim” Edward Llewellyn, age 69, of Taylor Mill, KY, and more recently Dry Ridge, KY, sadly passed away on February 17, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, KY. Jim was born on July 19, 1954, to Walter (Rinthey) Llewellyn and Lois (Cliff) Boggs. Jim enlisted into the United States Army in 1971 and served three years until 1974. He retired, after 27 years, as a Truck Driver for Pepsi Cola Company. Jim enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on old cars and passing them along to family members. Jim was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Taylor Mill, KY and had recently started attending Mercy Ridge Community Church, with his wife Sheila, after moving to Dry Ridge, KY.
His family will remember him as a man’s man. He was the type of person who would choose to build gifts over buying them. Jim valued hard work, honesty, and the value of a man’s word. To his children, he was loving, but fair. He made sure to instill his values on them as well as the importance of their name. To his wife, he was loving and caring. He made it a priority to keep the romance alive and continued their weekly tradition of Friday date nights to give their children an example for their own marriages.
Those left to continue his legacy are his loving wife (of over 46 years), Sheila L. Llewellyn; children, Darrell (Tonya) Nichols, Tammy Wilson, Nancy (Josh) Tufts, and Brent (Rachel) Llewellyn; and siblings, Karen (Jeff) Patterson, Debra (Tony) Dixon, Clifford (Monica) Boggs, and George Boggs; grandchildren, Sara, Brittney, Tylei, Cameron, Jayden, Sophia, Liam, James, Anna, and Levi; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Jim will be Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, with his funeral service to immediately follow at 12 noon, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 6056 Taylor Mill Rd., Taylor Mill, KY 41015. His committal service with military honors will be at Independence Cemetery, Independence, KY following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to Patriots Landing, 330 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY 41097. To leave the family a message of condolence, please go to www.chambersandgrubbs.com.
