Obituary of Geneva Carol Webster Gibson
Geneva Carol Webster Gibson, age 82, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at her residence at the Celebrations Villa of Summit in Crestview Hills, KY. Born on February 10, 1942, in Owenton, KY, Geneva was raised on a farm and established a work ethic that eventually led her pursuit of various occupations including as a Keypunch Operator for Wadsworth Electric, attaining her KY Real Estate License and working at the Dairy Bar in Taylor Mill, KY. After being diagnosed with Lupus, her doctor told her not to work, but she continued to volunteer as the President of a Lupus Foundation in Ft. Wayne, IN (where she briefly lived) and as a Board Member and assistant to the Director of the Independence Senior Center in Independence, KY. It was there you could often find her doing arts and crafts, making jewelry, crocheting, participating in community events, playing cards, or just answering the phone and taking messages. Geneva was also a member of GracePointe Community Church of the Nazarene in Erlanger, KY.
Geneva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, of over 60 years, Roy “Corky” Gibson; her parents, Hobert and Evelyn Webster; and her brother, John C. Webster. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Johnston (David) and Tracy Jankowski (Michael); grandchildren, Ben Johnston, Derrick Hurtt, Kristen Griffith (Nathan), Zachary Jankowski, and Luke Jankowski; and great grandchildren, Collin Hurtt, Chloe Hurtt, and Isabella “Izzy” Griffith.
Visitation for Geneva will be Friday, March 8, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with her funeral service beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill, KY.
