Obituary of James "Jim" K. Brockman
James “Jim” K. Brockman, 77, of Independence, KY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 18, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. The son of the late Ralph and Ruth {Bauer} Brockman, Jim was born in Covington on December 26, 1946. Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and later retired from the United States Postal Service after 21 years of service. He was a member of Latonia Christian Church and in his spare time enjoyed camping, attending bluegrass music festivals, golfing, and studying genealogy. But his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his children Melinda (Brian) Auton, Jeffery (Sheri) Brockman, and Amanda Padgett; grandchildren Nicholas Brockman, Haley Wiles, Zachary, Morgan, and Jacob Auton, Isaac, Mason, Lillian, and Elizabeth Padgett; siblings Don Bauer, Margie Hallett, Ralph Brockman, Delores McEntyre, and Becky Adams; his brother and sisters by marriage Judy (Cal) Huffman, Kathy Conover, Richard (Marilyn) Morgan, Beth (Steve) Cumbie, and Anita (Jeff) Howard; his best friend Ron Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Linda Brockman; sister Ruthann Brockman; brothers-in-law Myron Adams and Bruce Conover; sister-in-law Wanda Brockman; and grandson Matthew Cox.
A visitation will be held between 11 AM and 1 PM with the funeral service to immediately begin at 1 PM on Monday, March 25th at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. He will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery where military rites will be held.
