Obituary of Patrick "Pat" Helmer
Patrick “Pat” Helmer passed away at home on Saint Patrick's Day, Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was born in Covington, KY on December 20, 1954, to the late Rosella {Worthington} and Edward Helmer. Pat retired as a production supervisor from HK Systems and Andrew Laser Works. Pat loved fishing, hunting, golfing, and all things nature. He took great pride in his yard work, and was an avid fan of the Bengals, Reds, and UK basketball. Pat enjoyed laughing and having fun. He truly knew how to turn anything into a party. He had a close-knit group of friends who all met up every week and helped each other get work done. He was perfectly content spending an afternoon or evening shooting trap, grilling out next to a bonfire, and walking around in the woods. His enthusiasm was infectious. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a friend to many. He passed onto his son Nathan a love for good movies, and a need to see things done correctly. He passed onto Amber a fierce need to make people laugh and a love for 70’s rock, all things nature, and animals. He left Marilyn with the discipline you need to get your work done early so you can relax later! He felt that if you get up late, you are sleeping your life away.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marilyn Helmer; beloved children, Amber Memering and Nathan Helmer; cherished granddaughter, Olivia Memering; siblings, Rose Ann (John) Whisler, Mark (Sue) Helmer, Mike (Linda) Helmer, Melinda (Charlie) Franxman, and Mary Jo (John) Huber; brothers-in-law, Walter Franxman and Don (Carla) Pearce; sisters-in-law, Debbie Smith and Denise Smith; mother-in-law, Wilma Smith; his 2 cats, Bo and Bella; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other close friends and relatives who will cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Franxman and Martha Pearce.
