Lisa Renee Matheny Simpson, age 57, of Independence, KY, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 12, 2024, at her residence.  She was an Accounts Payable Specialist for Mubea in Florence, KY.  Lisa was a loving wife, mother, “Nana”, sister, daughter and friend.  Lisa filled the hearts of many performing with her husband in the band GenX for 13 years.  Lisa played the Keyboard and provided vocals that will always be remembered.  Lisa “never met a stranger and if you were a stranger when you met, you walked away a friend for life”.  She was a “Tom-boy” and would never hesitate to try something new and adventurous.  She loved the outdoors and God's nature around her.  She had diverse interests including ATV riding, archery, trap shooting, video games (monopoly go), playing cards, and watching her favorite TV show “Friends”.  She had a particular affinity for frogs (loved them but wouldn’t touch them), and loved the color green.  Her favorite thing to do though, was spending time with her friends and family.  Lisa would spread joy and happiness like a ray of sunlight everywhere she went.  While missed by all, she will be deeply missed by her husband, Don Simpson; daughter, Alysia Schadler (Brian); best friend for life, Vicki Wolfzorn; father, Charles Matheny (Jeanie); brother, Gregory Matheny (Suzanne) and Charles “Chip” Matheny; and grandchildren, Gabriella Schadler, Olivia Schadler, Airiana Schadler, Benjamin Schadler, Mason Schadler, Charlotte Schadler, and Brian Schadler.  Visitation for Lisa will be Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.  Her funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Independence Cemetery.  A celebration of life will take place at Jim & Jacks (Rt 50, Ohio) from 1pm to 3:30pm.  Memorials may be made to the family of Lisa Simpson at Lisa Simpson Memorial Donations, c/o Chambers and Grubbs.  To view her Life Tribute Video, to get directions or to leave the family a message of condolence, please go to www.chambersandgrubbs.com.
