Obituary of Linda Meyer

Linda Carol [Burch] Meyer, 74, of Independence, possessed one of the biggest hearts we knew.  It finally wore out on April 19, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Edgewood, KY.  Linda was born in Island Creek, Owsley County, KY on January 21, 1950 to the late Agnes Burch. She was the beloved daughter of not only Agnes, but also her late grandparents Herdis and Anna Mae Burch, who raised her as their own.

Linda was a graduate of Holmes High School and retired from being an office manager in the finance industry. Even though she did not drive, she was well-traveled. She loved the beach, especially Clearwater, FL. Seashells, books, and china were just a few things this prolific collector gathered.  Linda loved to go with her family to vintage shops and yard sales. She was the keeper of many of the family’s heirlooms, including multitudes of photos. She was “Aunt Linda” to many; giving freely and generously and often times would go without herself in order for those she loved to be well-provided for. Although many might try, no one will make a broccoli casserole or a seven-layer salad quite like Linda.  This special sister, aunt, and friend will be deeply missed by so many.

Linda was the dear sister of Jeff (Erin) Baker and Kim (Rick) Anderson and sister-in-law to Betty Burch. She was the treasured aunt and great-aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Linda also leaves behind many adored friends and close relatives including her special Cameron.  She is preceded in death by her cherished husband Jeffrey Meyer, her mother, her step-father Lee Baker, her grandparents, and her siblings Bobbie Burch, Billie Freimuth, Jack Burch, Ron Baker, and David Baker.

A lively visitation and celebration of Linda’s life will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Please come and share memories of Linda from 9:00 AM until shortly before the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM.  Directly following events at the funeral home, Linda will be laid to rest and reunited with Jeff at Independence Cemetery, Independence, KY.

Memorial donations may be made in Linda’s name to the Florence Wormald Heart and Vascular Institute Healthy Hearts Fund at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. You may donate in person at services or online.
