Shirley Hodges Kirkpatrick of Burlington, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. She was born at home on October 14, 1936, to the late Edna {Ogden} and Robert Hodges. Shirley spent her childhood growing up on a farm in East Bend, KY and later married the love of her life, Edwin. She was a talented piano player and enjoyed playing at churches where her husband preached and at nursing homes. Her number one job was making her house a home and raising her daughter, Ruth Ann. Shirley also enjoyed visiting Pigeon Forge, TN with her family and friends- especially Dollywood for her birthday. She lived a simple, yet beautiful life and left priceless memories to those who knew her.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Kirkpatrick; and her siblings, Helen Black, Bessie Black, Orville Hodges, and Wilford Hodges.  

She is survived by her loving daughter, Ruth Kirkpatrick (Tom Stetter); several nieces and nephews; as well as other close friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.  

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway Florence, KY 41042. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the start of the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest at Burlington Cemetery in Burlington, KY.
