Obituary of Denny Carter
Dennis Mark Carter, 77, passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Fort Thomas, KY. The son of the late Joseph Ellsworth Carter and Francis Mary [Meadow] Carter, he was born on January 11, 1947 in Cincinnati, OH.
Denny served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A welder and truck driver, he worked and retired from the manufacturing and transportation industry. A die-hard Cincinnati Bengals fan, he loved to cheer on his hometown team during both Sunday and Monday Night Football. Denny was a born-again Christian and enjoyed taking in God’s creation out in nature on walks with his wife Judy. A friend or loved one had but to ask; Denny was always there to help.
Denny was a beloved husband to Mary “Judy” [Eckerle] Carter; a hard-working father, better known simply as “Pops” to Sean Carter, David Carter and Joy Lainhart; dear brother to Joseph Carter and Sheila Ennis; and a treasured grandfather to Jacob Carter, Kristin Lainhart, Ethan Carter, Ian Carter, and Nyla Shay McIntosh. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Pat Hampel.
An intimate graveside service with full military honors will be held for Denny on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Ln, Williamstown, KY 41097. Guests wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery gates at 1:50 PM for the service scheduled at 2:00PM. Directly following the service at 3:00 PM, all are welcome to join the family at Sherman Baptist Church, 3525 Dixie Hwy, Dry Ridge, KY 41035 to share food and continue to share memories and stories of Denny.
