Lena M. Sester of Independence, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. She was born in Jackson, KY on November 12, 1953, to the late Ellen {Spencer} and Clay Thomas, Sr. Lena worked for many years as a machine operator at A&P Technology before retiring. However, her number one job in life was always to raise her family and spend time with her beloved grandkids. Lena valued the time she spent with her family, she would often go back home to Jackson, KY to visit. She enjoyed browsing through yard sales and typically never passed one up! Lena was very independent, strong, and sometimes a bit hardheaded. She also had a great sense of humor and was pretty funny. Most of all Lena was a very loving Mom, Nan, aunt, and friend who will be missed beyond measure by those who knew her.

She is survived by her loving children, Lonnie (Tracy) Richardson and Tiffany Sester; step daughters, Angie (Joe) Howe and Tabatha Sester; grandchildren, Amanda Crist, Allyssa Richardson, Joey Howe, Katelyn Asher, and Sarah Richardson; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Kenzie, Miley, and Lily; sister, Beatrice Gross; special niece, Loretta Hall; several nieces and nephews; as well as close friends and other relatives who will cherish her memory.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Sester; and her siblings, Clay Thomas, Jr., Marie Noonchester, Dulcinna Chenot, Kelly “Beech” Thomas, and Ada Thomas.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. The service will begin at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Lena will be laid to rest next to her husband, Ronnie at Clay Thomas Family Cemetery in Jackson, KY on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
