Obituary of Roy Fritz

Please share a memory of Roy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Roy Fritz, 73, of Independence, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. The son of the late Hubert Franklin Fritz and Pauline {Ramey} Fritz, Roy was born in Canebrake, WV on July 24, 1950. A disciplined and talented Tool and Die Welder, Roy was employed with multiple shipyards in Toledo, OH and later retired with Republic Tool & Die after 14 years of service.

Roy had a great relationship with God and kept Him in the center of his life. He was known as the “Walking Bible” as he could recite scripture on a whim. A prayer warrior, Roy enjoyed preaching wherever and whenever he was needed. When he wasn’t studying his Bible, he enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time in his kitchen frying fish, cooking Chinese food, making fudge candy, and baking his famous chocolate cake. Over the years he cared for a multitude of animals - cows, pigs, guinea hens, bees, you name it! Most of all, Roy found profound joy in hunting and fishing. His family will continue to reminisce the annual family fishing trips they would take in Michigan where Roy caught countless salmon and walleye. A proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Roy cherished the time spent with his family.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 54 years, Debbie {Cole} Fritz; daughters Shelby (James) Lepper, Sherry Fritz, and Angel (Jim) Reid; siblings Carol (Robert) McLaughlin, Shelby (Steven) Jones, and Gerald (Beulah “Faye”) Fritz; grandchildren Samuel, Hannah, Rachel, Victoria, and Michael Lepper, Morgan Fritz, Colin Wethington, and Olivia Brackenridge; great-grandchildren Chance, Jordan, Axel, and Ellie; special friends Don Howard and Ed Knox; as well as many extended family members, Debbie’s family, and several friends who will forever keep Roy’s memory close to them.

Welcoming Roy in Heaven are his parents Hubert and Pauline Fritz; his son Roy Fritz and sister Helen Fritz who were both born in the arms of their Heavenly Father; and his sisters JoAnna Baum and Linda Brower.

A visitation will be held between 1 PM and 3 PM up until the time of Roy’s funeral service at 3 PM on Saturday, July 20th at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051.
