Obituary of Diane E Griffin
Diane Eddins Griffin, age 59, passed away from this world on Thursday, September 5th, 2024 just after midnight. After battling Parkinsons disease for the last ten years with hope that a cure would be found; Her care team, who turned out to be more like unexpected family, made the phone call to usher in family. As her husband rushed to her side, all that was left was peace and stillness.
Diane Lee Eddins, born to Jeff and Joan (Morris) Eddins in northern Kentucky was the second sister of four daughters. She was raised in Independence and later in Grant County. She enjoyed cooking from a young age, a skill she likely picked up from her great-grandmother, and enjoyed dancing around the old farmhouse that her father had converted, step by step.
Diane is a 1982 graduate of Walton-Verona High school. After, she headed to Eastern Kentucky University for business classes. While studying away from home she met an Estill County boy there and they were soon to be married. Diane became a woman of class and simplicity. She enjoyed hosting friends for dinner where everything was superb. Her baking, cooking, and even homemade candies she prepared with love and enjoyment.
When Donnie and Diane gave birth to their first son, Jeffrey, it was decided that she would stay home to rear her child. Twins Kathryn and Sarah came next, followed by Ryle, and finally Maura. Diane was a beautiful homemaker. She relished the restoration of her home in Verona. Each detail of the home was thought of with hand painted borders, sewn curtains, fresh wallpaper applied. Her loved ones referred to her lovingly as “Martha Stewart”. She oozed with creativity. Memories of gowns sewn with no instruction or ballet slippers beaded to perfection are some that her family shares fondly.
In Heaven, Diane is greeted by her father, Jeff Edward Eddins. Her memories will be kept alive here on earth by her devoted husband of 39 years, her children; Jeffrey Grant Griffin, Kathryn Diane (Ian) Weber, Sarah Elizabeth (Dylan) Larson, Allen Ryle (Hayley) Griffin, and Maura Anne Griffin, her mother; Joan (Morris) Eddins, sisters; Phyllis Lynn Fryman, Jennifer Ann (Tommy) Hamilton, and Aimee Joan (Guy) Evans; her grandchildren Mina Weber, Charlie Griffin, and baby Griffin Edward Larson, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
