Obituary of Piper Bartlett
“You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worry
You belong somewhere you feel free”
--Tom Petty
“Wildflowers”
Piper Amy Straub Bartlett, 71, passed away gently in her own time, enveloped in the love of family at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Edgewood, KY on October 26, 2024. Born on September 18, 1953, in Covington, KY at home; she was the daughter and only child of Ralph Straub and Emma Lou [Webster] Straub.
Piper graduated from Dixie Heights High School, where she met her soulmate H.C. Bartlett. She made a career with Kroger; beginning as a bagger, she would eventually work her way up to the floral shop where she became the department manager. Piper worked at many stores in the Northern Kentucky area by the time she retired from the company. Attending rock concerts and cruise-ins with H.C. were two favorite ways to enjoy her free time. Piper possessed green fingers and relished each and every one of her multitudinous flowers at home. Her ultimate heart’s desire was her family, however—especially her children and grandchildren.
An easy-going, patient and loving woman, Piper was the adored wife of over 50 years of H.C. Bartlett; beloved mom to Heather (Greg) Hornsby; and dear grandma to Sophia Bartlett, Lydeah Bartlett, and Maisie Riley. She was loved by many close friends and relatives, including Del Vitalis. Piper was preceded in death by her parents.
