Sheila Marie Hauxwell of Burlington, age 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in the comfort of her own home and with her loving family at her bedside. She was born in Dayton, KY on April 25, 1948, to the late James Estes and Betty {Kemper} Estes Kaffenberger. Sheila retired as a bookkeeper; however, her number one job was to make her house a home and raise her children. She enjoyed doing ceramics and other crafts, attending her kids and grandkids sports games, and traveling to spend time on the beach, specifically the Mariner Beach Club at St. Pete Beach, FL.  Sheila always was very cheerful and positive, although she could be a bit sassy. She naturally was good at striking up a conversation and truly never met a stranger. She was a mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dan Hauxwell; as well as her first husband and father of her children, Charles Hurd, Jr.

She is survived by her loving children, Charles Dean Hurd, Holly (Kelly) Tucker, Jamie Lee (Sarah) Hurd, and Matthew (Sara) Hurd; sister, Marla (Mike) Clifton; beloved grandchildren, Justin, Cage, Kelsey, and Ava; nephew, Michael Clifton; niece, Megan (Zach) Migliozzi; as well as several other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will begin at 6:00 PM. Sheila will be laid to rest on Thursday, at Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate, KY.
